Abstract:

In our institute (a tertiary level centre) the incidence of PSI was terribly high and that we were in search of alternate ways of sterilisation for laparoscopic instruments in addition as any prophylactic treatment that may stop the event of PSI. Objectives: The aim was to check the role of temperature gas plasma technology (STERRAD) as an acceptable methodology of sterilisation for laparoscopic instruments to scale back the incidence of PSI and to check the role of prophylactic port website Amikacin in preventing PSI.

Methodology: this is often a prospective non randomised study that was done over fifteen months. throughout this study amount patients admitted normally surgery wards of IPGME & R and SSKM Hospital with lithiasis were enclosed within the study. once undergoing cholecystectomy they were followed up for three months.

Results: Among the 220 cases of cholecystectomy done throughout this era a complete of thirty cases of PSI were noted. There was a forceful reduction within the incidence of PSI once patients were operated victimisation instruments sterilised by the temperature gas plasma technology (STERRAD).
